Welcome Back

It’s been another busy week at Blitzy.

From rethinking modernization to educational sessions on how to use our platform, there’s a lot to catch up on.

Let’s get into it!

The Mainframe Won’t Retire Itself

Let’s kick off with the latest release: The Mainframe Won’t Retire Itself.

Today, there are 220,000 COBOL developers, but there will only be 18,000 by 2030.

However, COBOL in production grew from 220 billion lines of code in 2017 to 800 billion in 2022.

The problem? According to Gartner, 70% of mainframe modernizations fail.

Our white paper is a guide on exactly how to tackle this gap and minimize failures.

Guess that Codebase!

We have a weekly guessing game on our X account…

Here are the rules:

Blitzy writes 4 clues in the voice of an open-source project.
One clue is released each day: Monday-Thursday.
Users guess the codebase in the comments.
We release the answer every Friday.

Events & Initiatives

Rethinking Legacy Modernization with AI

AI tools work well… until they encounter a complex enterprise codebase with millions of lines of code, decades of undocumented logic, and systems no one fully understands anymore.

Earlier this week, AI Solutions Consultant David Byrne spoke about how to minimize the context bottleneck, see real-world examples of modernizing software with agentic development, and more.

Blitzy & TekTrek

Earlier in the week, our CEO Brian Elliott spoke at TekTrek.

In his talk, Brian reopened his seed deck for Blitzy from March 2024.

Though a lot has changed about Blitzy in two years and in the market, Brian and Sid’s unwavering conviction hasn’t.
